ECONOMIC RECOVERY UPDATE: JUNE 8, 2020 Reopening Phase 2, Step 1
Town of Barnstable staff is working from home to help our businesses get
ready to reopen successfully, to recover from this crisis, and to move towards a
stable and prosperous future. Town staff is listening to and working with our
businesses, residents, the Economic Development Task Force (a Town Council
presidential subcommittee) and other community partners on developing an
Economic Recovery Plan.
First, we are preparing to assist Barnstable
businesses in all industry sectors to reopen as safely and as quickly as
possible when allowed by the Governor. The second phase of the plan will be
centered on policies and actions that can strengthen our community through
efforts to support local businesses, promote community health and nutrition,
ensure high-speed connectivity for residents and businesses, and address housing
needs for homeowners and renters at all income levels.
Phase I - Reopening
Temporary Outdoor Business Guidelines & Application
The Town has released guidelines for temporary outdoor business expansion, including outside dining and retail space. The guidelines represent a streamlined approach to multi-department approval. Applications will be reviewed by staff, Zoom meetings scheduled as needed, and, where required, on-site inspections conducted to finalize approved layouts.
